Genocide Awareness Month , in its third year, seeks to educate the public about genocidal atrocities of the past and present, promote understanding and awareness of personal and community consequences of genocide, and begin the healing process. Genocide Awareness Week provides citizens with the tools to recognize stages of societal oppression leading to genocide and avenues for them to stand up and speak out before it occurs.
